Privacy Policy

1.1 Account and profile information

• Identity: first name, last name, username, display name, email address.
• Date of birth. Collected at signup to confirm you are 18 or older. Your birthday may be shown to other members if you enable that setting; your full date of birth is not displayed.
• Gender. Collected at signup. Used for people-discovery features and, as described in §5, to select which advertisements you are shown.
• Location: zip code, and the city, state, country and approximate latitude/longitude we derive from it. The coordinates we store are the centre of your zip code area, not your address. If you tap “use my location” while tagging a place on a post, your browser asks your permission and sends your coordinates to look up nearby places — we do not store those coordinates.
• Phone number, if you complete SMS verification. Used to verify you are a real person and to reduce fake accounts. It is never shown to other members.
• Profile details: relationship status, riding styles, bio, profile photo, cover photo.
• Garage: year, make and model of the motorcycles you add, plus any photos and descriptions. Shown publicly on your profile.

1.2 Content you create

Posts, photos, comments, replies, likes and reactions, polls, ride logs (including distance, route description and conditions), classified listings, event listings, group memberships and group content, wall posts, and chat room messages.

1.3 Messages

The contents of direct messages are stored on our servers. Messages are private between participants in the sense that other members cannot read them. They are not private from automated safety systems: as described in §3, message content is automatically analysed for scams and prohibited content. Our staff may also read messages when responding to a report, investigating abuse, or complying with a legal requirement.

1.4 Social connections

Friend requests sent and received, friendships, group memberships, members you have blocked, reports you have submitted, and referral relationships if you joined through another member’s invite link.

1.5 Usage information

Last-seen and online-status timestamps, presence in chat rooms, which notifications you have read, when you last viewed your feed, posts you like or comment on, and interactions with advertisements shown on the Platform.

1.6 Signup and marketing attribution

When you register we record the IP address you signed up from, the approximate city, region and country derived from it, the page you landed on, the referring URL, and any campaign parameters in that URL. Those parameters include utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term, and advertising click identifiers from Meta (fbclid) and Google (gclid). We use this to understand which advertising brings riders to the Platform. Unlike ordinary server logs, this information is stored on your account record and retained for as long as your account exists.

1.7 Safety and integrity information

We generate and store information about the risk associated with an account, including an internal trust tier, the results of automated content scans, and the results of reverse-image analysis of profile photos used to detect stolen or impersonated pictures.

1.8 Technical information

Our hosting and infrastructure providers automatically receive standard technical information when you use the Platform, including IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URLs, and access timestamps. We also record application errors, which may include your account identifier and the page you were on.

4.1 With other members

Your profile, posts, photos, comments, likes, garage, group memberships and general location area are visible to other registered members, as set out in §6. Direct messages are visible only to the participants.

4.2 Service providers

These providers process information on our behalf to make the Platform work. Our own infrastructure is located in the United States. Some of these providers, or the subprocessors they rely on, may process information in other countries.

4.3 DMCA counter-notices

If you submit a DMCA counter-notice, we are required by 17 U.S.C. §512(g)(3) to forward it — including your name, address and contact information — to the original complainant. Submitting a counter-notice is your consent to that forwarding.

4.4 Legal requirements

We may disclose information to comply with law or valid legal process, to protect the rights, property or safety of BikerOrNot, our members or the public, and to investigate fraud or security incidents.

4.5 Business transfers

If BikerOrNot is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5.1 Essential cookies

Authentication and session cookies keep you signed in and maintain your session. These are required for the Platform to work and cannot be turned off. We also use your browser’s local storage to remember interface preferences and to hold a draft of what you were writing.

5.2 Analytics and advertising trackers

We use Google Analytics to understand how the Platform is used, and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure whether our advertising on Facebook and Instagram brings riders to BikerOrNot. Both set cookies and send information about your activity on this site to those companies, which may combine it with information they already hold about you.

If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, these do not load unless you accept them. Elsewhere, they load by default and you may refuse them using the banner or the link in §5.4.

5.3 Advertising shown on the Platform

We show advertisements from businesses in the motorcycle community. Some are targeted: an advertiser may choose to show an advertisement only to members of a particular gender, and we use the gender on your profile to decide whether you are shown it. We do not give advertisers your personal information, and we do not use your browsing history on other websites to select advertisements.

5.4 Turning it off

Use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. If you are signed in, that choice is stored on your account and applies on every device you use. Nothing about your account changes and no feature is withheld as a result.
