I suffer from over 50. Memory, energy, eyesight, stamina, memory (wait..did I..) shot. Can't get my old crew, neighbors or family members to do anything. If it requires thought or effort it is cancelled or not even considered. No one wants to leave the house in suburbia unless it is to work, Home Depot, shop, or worship at the altar of their kids activities. "I'm beat." "I'm tired." People, this...See More is how you feel well into middle age with a stressful job and long commute.
I have stopped trying.
Now I take Line Dance lessons at several locations. Can't dance a lick, never could. But it is fun. And sometimes I'm even facing the same way as all the other people. Sometimes.
I have an FLHSTC and joined several groups (even on FB). Charity rides and bike nights abound. Contrary to popular opinion bikers are an amazingly friendly, loyal and supportive bunch. I don't drink or even eat meat and I have a blast listening to live music and being around like minded folk. Backseat still has cobwebs but that's ok. Still gunshy from the divorce.
It seems like every woman in the world wants a platonic relationship with a sincere, considerate, kind, compassionate, funny, genuine, creative, intelligent guy but doesn't believe or trust that one actually exists (and might be right in front of them).
MeetUp is good, found dog walking, hiking, no cell phone, and other interesting groups. Something always going on, and once you are networking you find out about parks, trails and events you might have missed.
I stuff my calendar with all local events (live music at parks/beaches, street fairs, outdoor movies). If I am home & lonely it's my choice. Public library and some venues have board game nights. I always liked games. Great unintimidating way to meet people. Even in this climate of abject misandry.
