I ran a test on my taters today this is one hill 1 pound 14 ounces. I couldn't be happier especially with 2-3 weeks of developing left. I'm going to have these for supper mashed with deep fried squash and a T-Bome I've had marinating since this morning.
I'm off till Tuesday, so tomorrow I'm going to cook something I've been craving for awhile now. A big pot of pinto beans. I'm going to have them with sliced bell pepper and onion. Also deep fried squash and fried taters.
My Crimson Sweet and Charleston Grey watermelons are coming on good.
A good year for my gladiolus.
I can't give it away as fast as it's coming in...lol
This mornings squash, zucchini and cucumbers.
My canteloups are doing good. Each flag is marking a canteloup. I don't mark them until they are as big as a baseball. There's a lot more coming on.
Got 8 rows of taters planted today. I'm taking a vac day tomorrow and I'll plant 6 more rows in another area then all will be planted. I'm very proud of the fact that after planting those aside from my shoulders, biceps, forearms, lower back, hips, thighs and calves nothing is sore...lol
I'm protecting my newly planted roses tonight.
My tulips are really taking off now.
This is how you have to protect your tulips when it goes from temperatures in the upper 60s to a couple nights where it's going to drop into the low teens. Of course someone had to get in front of the camera and piss.....lol
After tilling most of the day I decided to treat myself to a baked tater and a steak off of the smoker.
Getting the gardens tilled for the first time each spring is the funnest thing you can do with your clothes on.
My tulips that started up last Saturday sure are growing good.
This is something I look forward to seeing every year. I saw a bill that male bluebird sitting on the perch on one of the bluebird houses. So I opened it up and they have started building today
Last October I made a new raised flower bed and planted 57 purple tulips in it. I just noticed today they are coming up. All 57 of them. It's going to be beautiful for about 2 weeks
This is my favorite sign every year that spring is right around the corner. It will be beautiful when it opens up tomorrow or the next day.
I read this earlier and it is so true, especially in this day and age: A SHEEP WILL FOLLOW THE HAND THAT IS HOLDING FOOD EVEN IF THAT HAND IS LEADING IT TO THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE!!!!
I just got home with my new toy.
I'm trying a different approach with this steak. I slathered it in banner butter which contains roasted garlic basil and parsley. I seared it in the oven for 8 minutes on each side at 300°. Now I just set it on the smoker to smoke at 200° for 1 and 1/2 hours. I look forward to trying it.
