OMAHA, Neb. — Officials are investigating the deaths of two people after a shooting near Offutt Air Force Base.

The Omaha World-Herald reports Air Force Col. Gavin Marks said the shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the Rising View community in the Omaha suburb of Bellevue just west of the base.

Officials said an active duty member of the military and his or her spouse died in the shooting, but few details were released.

Marks, who is the commander at the 55th Wing at Offutt, says authorities don't believe there is any threat to the community from the shooting.

SARASOTA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Members of the public are invited to attend the Sarasota funeral of a veteran with no immediate family.

Edward K. Pearson, from Naples, Florida, passed away last month at the age of 80.

The veteran has no immediate family to attend the burial, according to the funeral home, so the public is invited to attend.

Pearson's service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1.

The interment, with military honors, will take place at the Sarasota National Cemetery, located at 9810 State Road 72.
