since my thou mile service my ultra has developed a rattle in the bottom end it more noticable around the rear lifter block .im not the only one with this trouble i know of three other 09 bikes that have developed this trouble.we have all been to our local dealers and been told either this is normal and keep riding or that they have to call HD and get authorization to go into the moters to find out whats wrong. Any one have a suggestion what to do next.

Not much you can do with out voiding the warrenty. Keep on them at the dealers  Till they get an answer from the factory. Or run the shit out of it till it blows and then let them replace the engine.

WVBiker, yeah the 09s are twinkies. Wonder what the idea is set at and if those guys are letting the bike fully warm up before riding them. If it is in the rear lifter area that may be an oil issue. Like to hear what happens.

Tom,

I got no clue.   Nobody ever posts what the fix was.

Leave it to HD to ruin a good run by ading more moving parts to a nearly perfected motor.

Chain driven dual cam?????   Pfft!!!!!!      Seems like building something bent on self destruction.

I find no advantage on more moving parts.    More parts ya have, more likely to foul.

Single cam is the way to go.   HD done screwed itself.
