Introduction:
Just looking for someone who likes to ride as much as me. I average 20,000 miles a year. My idea of a dinner ride is 200 miles. Not really a bar biker. Don't get me wrong..I love an ice cold Yuengling! Went to Key West on a whim. 1,986 fun filled miles. OK, maybe the last 150 in the pouring rain were not that great. Mallory Square & the cold beer made it worth while.
My favorite places to ride are the mountains of NC, TN, VA & WV. I am not talking just about the Blue Ridge Parkway. Getting off the beaten path and going to the beat of your own drum. Those are the best rides.
Riding all day and ending up in a cabin or some place different. Not just a normal hotel is an ideal situation for me. Nice dinner, roaring fire and recapping the ride.
Not looking for a game/head player/narcissistic type of person. Dated one of those all ready; own the tee shirt! Just be honest and straightforward. I am very lucky in the fact my job allows me a ton of time off. I only work about 12 days a month.
Riding is not my only passion but, it rates high. I enjoy Lake Norman, boating, fly fishing in NC, MT, AK, & NM and golf.
I get a kick planning big rides. IE...Ten or more day trips.
I have been working on one more big trip that is close to coming together. New Zealand. I have been there twice but, never did the bike trip. That is on my "bucket list." Has to be in February due to them being in the Southern Hemisphere.
My 2009 "Big Trip" is a coast to coast ride. I am leaving NC riding to Lake Michigan. Going around the lake via the Upper Peninsula over to WI. Leaving WI, toward MN, and the Sturgis area. From there to Red Lodge, MT, Yellowstone, Missoula, MT, ID & WA state to the Pacific Coast Hwy. I will ride down the Pacific Coast and cut across to the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Monument Valley, Durango, CO, San Antonio, Austin, up to Nashville and back home to NC. Anyone that wants to ride all, part, meet up, some of it....you are welcome. Like I told one friend..."it's about a tire."
I want to meet someone who has these kinds of ambitions for exploring life. People worry so much about the length of their life, but never the width. I want to reach the end of my road and go....mission accomplished!
