Introduction:
My name is Dave, but people call me possum (long story involving alcohol, sauna, nudity, and attacking sauna invaders in Florida in Dec 2006). I'm retired from the Air Force and work as a computer tech. I started riding Aug 2006 and regret not having discovered the fun of motorcycles earlier. But I'm making up for lost time, I've put over 28,000 so far (May 2008) on the sporty that I bought new. Give me a shout if you want to go for a ride.
Edit: May 7 2008. I signed up today to meet bikers near me and to go on rides occasionally, not for the "dating" aspect of this site. Within 2 hours I had requests from women a thousand miles away wanting me to approve them as their "friend". I'M NOT HERE FOR THE DATING ASPECT!! I just want to meet bikers living in a reaomable radius from me to go on rides sometimes or just meet to shoot the shit.. If you do happen to be a female rider and I send you a message asking if you want to go for a motorcycle ride sometime, that's just exactly what I mean. I'm not looking for anything other than go for a ride on our bikes. I'm married and am not looking for "a little on the side." I ride solo mainly, but that sometimes gets boring and would like to ride with someone else (wife wants nothing to do with the bike)
I am not also the "myspace" type of person who wants to show off how many "friends" I have or are linked to. That's immature B.S. and I don't feel the need to prove that "other people think I'm cool". Ask other Harley riders that know me if they think I have the need to be deemed as cool. They will snicker. I have a bright yellow bike and wear a bright yellow helmet (full-face if the temps are under 60). I don't give a shit if folks think I am cool or not. I ride my own ride and don't give a damn about what others think I should typically wear as a "Harley owner. "Again, I just want to meet up with bikers near me to socialize with and go for a ride sometime.
Summarized: If you don't live in Michigan and are looking for something other than to be friends with/ride with, don't waste your time asking me to approve you as a friend. I'll reject it. I joined to meet up with other local bikers and to go on rides with.
What you ride: And for what's it's worth, 2 wheels is 2 wheels in my mind. It doesn't matter what you ride, just that you ride and aren't a damned cager. It was a close decision between getting the sporty and a Honda Shadow Aero for me. The sporty felt more "me" and the controls were more intuitive so that's what I bought. But the Shadow was very close behind. I was also looking at a Boulevard. The forward controls on the Boulevard were too far forward for my liking. I didn't feel I could come to an emergency stop with forward controls too long for my short legs. What a shame. It was the biggest bang for the buck considering how much touring I do. If they made slight redesigns/models for people who are short they would sell a lot of them. |
