About me:
I work at a bike shop and it used to be that all bikers shared a common bond, an unspoken code of ethics and behavior that transcended words and was built on actions.
There was never a bible written on this "bikers code" and there was no need for such, but the times are a changin' and there seems to be alot of new riders that dont have a clue!
These days the riders you see blastin' down the road are just as likely to be clad in shorts and sneakers as jeans and engineer boots, and the roughest,toughest-looking biker you pull up next to could be your doctor or lawyer and maybe wearin' a Rolex watch under his leathers and there's nothing wrong with that. I couldnt make a living at what I love if it werent for these Rolex riders, So long as these new riders learn the
"code" just as I did.
Being a biker used to be about useing your creativity to take a basket case old hawg and useing only grit and ingenuity, turning it into a one-of-a-kind eye dazzler then risking your life on the asphalt on a bike you built yourself out of pride.
We wear leather and grease because we know cagers would just as soon run us down rather than look at us. so we have to be intimidateing. We are a breed unto ourselves with no union, no support group and in many cases no family {they threw us out!}
I had to make it in a world of my own, against all rules,against mainstream society and against all odds.
I survived and prosperd because of the code I live by and I never took any shit from anybody.
An old scooter bro once said "Its every scooter tramps job to school the young" How else are they gonna know a Panhead from a bedpan. Hell, someone thought enough of me to show me the way, so its my duty to pass it on.
The code I live by is one filled with honer,loyalty and respect the likes of which have not been seen since the days Knighthood:
Be kind to woman,children and animals but dont swollow any of thier bullshit! This is an essential part of being a MAN to me, but it has to be done with respect and honer. Anyone can be a quick temperd assole!
I always keep cool, stand tall and back up what I say with actions. I never lie, cheat or steal.
Bikers are always the greasy bad guys in the movies and on t.v. and by my actions, I am trying to show the world that we are better than our image portrays us, but I think every real biker knows that his word is his bond. Your word is all you really have in life that is truely yours. I guard mine carefully and try to be someone noble. Its part of my code: Dont snitch, If you see a wrong, fight it yourself. If you are about anything you'll take care of it yourself and never feel the need to snitch someone off. Snitches are the lowest form of life, right up there with bike thieves!
Also, Never sweat the small shit. Do you know what the small shit is?.............Everything. Unless your dead or in jail, Most of life's little inconveniences will work themselves out one way or another.
Its not what happens to you, but how you deal with what happens to you. Never say die and never give up weather its in a fight, a debate or in a business deal, no matter how bad it gets I never give up, I stick to my guns.
I always do what I say I'm going to do and if I say I'm gonna be there, you can count on it. This goes to standing for something, Like the song says "You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for everything"
I never cheat on the woman I love. I've had it done to me and I know how much it hurts. I never lift so much as a finger to a woman, "Newsflash" to all you punk-ass wife beaters; You cant beat a woman into loveing you and being faithfull, A womans love is a gift and it must be giv'in freely. I've never been married and I have no children. But I'm finally ready for a serious relationship. I need a woman with a wild heart and a loyal soul. But I'm not going to give you the whole answer sheet so you can tell me what you think I want to hear, Show me what your workin'with! And I'll tell you this much;
I dont go for looks; They can deceive.
Dont go for wealth; Even that fades away.
Just someone who will stand by me and has a burning
passion for this man and his lifestyle {without giveing me to much shit}.
Remember, life is about the journey, not getting there.
There is no dress rehearsal in the game of life, You get one shot at it. Tomorrow I could be road kill, Thanks to some overworked chain smoker,talkin on a cell phone at the wheel of some suv. But if thats my fate, at least I left doing something I love. Because when I was born, I was crying and everyone around me was smiling but when I die, I will be smileing and everyone else will be crying because I've had the best people in the world in my life and Im truely blessed!
