Introduction: Wow, I can't believe it's been a whole year since my dad's wreck. He's finally to the point where he can work again. Not like he used to, but at least he's out of the house. He had surgery on one arm, and when they went in to do the reconstructive surgery on the other, they said there wasn't enough there to reconstruct, so, we'll see how he holds up. He's a strong man. I want to thank all of my biker or not friends for all their thoughts and prayers for me and my family throughout this past year. I know I wouldn't have made it without all of you.
I deleted all the updates I had on my profile about my dad's wreck, but I just can't bring myself to delete those first few paragraphs when I first told all my friends. More time, I guess.
For those of you that don't know, my Dad was in a horrible motorcycle accident on Sunday 10/19/08. We're still not sure what happened, but we think he was probably run off the road into a ditch hitting a tree, right around the corner from his home in Wills Point. No, he wasn't wearing a helmet, but I asked one of his doctors if it would have helped and he told me that it probably would have caused him to break his neck. We think he wrecked around 6:00pm, was found by a neigbor around 6:30-6:45, then was careflighted to Parkland around 7:15pm, where he was in ICU for 2 weeks.
Currently what we know is;
He has a broken right clavicle (collar bone), 2 broken left ribs, a fractured sternum (breast plate), a few fractured vertebrae (not serious), fractured nose, contusions on his right lung, superficial tear on his right eye, lots of cuts and bruises, and the most serious~~~bleeding on the brain with a severe head injury.
You know, the thing that really sucks about all of this, is that we still don't know who did this to him. I just really hope and pray that that person's conscience is working hard on them.
