Introduction:
THIS YEAR IS THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK. THERE ARE SO MANY, MANY CEREMONIES, FESTIVALS, CONCERTS AND CELEBRATIONS THAT ITS JUST UNBELIEVEABLE. FREE COUNTRY MUSIC, MOUNTAIN MUSIC, BLUEGRASS, FIDDLERS CONVENTIONS, NATIVE AMERICAN MUSIC AND MORE. HAVE A PARTIAL SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES POSTED ON MY WEBSITE AT motorcyclefantasyvacations.com ( Oct - Dec 09 ) will have more posted soon ! The leaves are turning now and soon the mountains will be at the heighth of their color. I'm 6'4", 230 lbs. U.S.M.C. from 1970-1973. For over 20 years was involved in supporting our missing men, our veterans, our active duty military and our wounded troops. Just moved back to Tennessee to start my own business doing guided " motorcycle fantasy vacations " of/in the mountains in east Tennessee and western North Carolina. The reason they are called fantasy vacations is that in addition to riding some of the most beautiful country in this part of the world and staying in a beautiful mountain cabin or chalet, complete with hottub, jacuzzi, fireplace, fully furnished kitchens, linens, washer/dryer, cable TV, some have saunas and pool tables, and have a massuse on call etc., you can design your vacation package to include things such as skydiving, hang gliding, glider rides, white water rafting, tubing, kayaking, canoe trips, water skiing, jet skiing, pontoon or houseboat rentals, party on a secluded island on one of Tennessee's TVA Lakes, River Boat rides, hang gliding, skydiving, helicopter or plane rides over the Smoky Mountains, hot air balloon rides, glider rides, horse back riding, horse shows, rodeos, civil war reenactments, mansion, plantation and farm tours, amusement parks, aquariums, vintage railroad train rides thru the mountains and along the rivers, caves and caverns, guided bass or trout fishing trips, guided hiking trips, monster truck rides, ATV trail rides, Hummer trail rides, motorcross racing, museums, comedy or country music dinner shows, concerts, festivals, area motorcycle rallies, tours of vineyards and winerys, NASCAR or drag races at Bristol, TN., golf packages, tennis, skeet shooting, as this is one of the number 1 destinations for weddings and honeymoons we can do wedding packages in a mountain chapel or a sunrise wedding on top of the mountains with a motorcycle riding minister, also have area attractions, water parks, area shopping malls, flea markets, antique shops, area tattoo parlors, spa trips, and lots, lots more. You design your vacation and we make it happen making all the advance reservations, ticket purchases, etc., etc. The list of things you can choose from to do goes on and on and there will be a calender posted with special events so you can plan your vacation to include them. For those that want to fly in and ride I will have a limo pick you up at the airport in Knoxville and can offer a full line of Harleys ( except V-Rod's ) and Hondas for rent. Tours will have a chase vechicle during most of the rides to haul purchases and in case of accidents or break downs. Driver is former law enforcement and has Red Cross certification and First Responder training. " Dragon's Tail " has claimed over 20 lives in the last 4 years. There were 96 reported accidents in 2006. "The Devil's Triangle, the Snake, Hellbender and Cherohala Skyway " have taken their toll also. These roads are not for beginners and prefer all riders to have a minimum of two years riding experience. For those that are interested you might want to check out my photo albums especially those of the " Dragon's Tail ". That will give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Tours are open to 1 and maximum of 10 riders per group. Tours can be booked from April 1 thru October 31. Tours will normally be 3,5, 7 or 10 day tours. Special tours will be considered for those wanting to include Nashville and Memphis tours. Will have all the details up in the near future on my website at www.motorcyclefantasyvacations.com .
I attend most major motorcycle rallies such as Rolling Thunder,Daytona, Myrtle Beach, Laconia, Sturgis, etc. One of my favorite places to ride is the mountains of eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina especially the Dragons Tail, Cherohala Skyway, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Into parties, riding, good people, veterans, patriots, and Jack Daniels !

If you are thinking about riding the Dragon's Tail for the first time I STRONGLY suggest you do not do it on the weekends and that when you ride it you do it slowly and always stay as far right (as far away from the center line as possible). You can always come back and try riding it faster if you want to ... at least you will know what to expect. Had a 52 year old man from Miami killed yesterday ( 6-26-09 ) when his Harley left the road and he hit a tree. Had a 26 year old mother of three killed June 7th when she came off the back of her boyfriends rice rocket and hit a guard rail crushing her chest and then bounced into the road and was run over by another motorcycle. Thats at least 18 killed in the last 3 years and maybe more. 7-7-09 The Dragon took a 49 year old woman from Austin, Texas. She died after she lost control of her motorcycle and her and it went over a bank and she traveled 150 feet and her bike went 250 feet before coming to rest in a creek at the bottom of the mountain. Change that to 19 killed in three years. Are you next ???
THEY KEEP AN AMBULANCE POSTED AT THE TENNESSEE END OF IT BECAUSE ITS NOT UNCOMMON TO HAD 4 OR 5 WRECKS A DAY ON THE WEEKENDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

at a 45 degree angle with your
index and pinkie finger extended.
This indicate that it is safe to
return to staggered formation.
TIGHTEN UP
Raise your left arm and
repeatedly move up and down
in a pulling motion. This
indicates the leader wants the
group to close ranks.
PISSED OFF
Extend your left arm straight out
with your elbow bent 90 degrees.
Carefully extend your middle finger
to clearly demonstrate your
dissatisfaction with the other guy.
NOTE: It is not recommended
you do this when you are alone.

Tennessee end of the Dragon's Tail. Better know how to ride if you make that trip. NOT FOR BEGINNERS ! 4-30-08 The Dragon took another one today. June 09 ... The Dragon got a 26 year old mother of 3 on the 7th of June 09 and a 52 year old man from Miami on the 26th. 19 killed in 3 years. Not uncommon to have 4 or 5 wrecks a day. The Dragon is DANGEROUS !!!! 7-7-09 The Dragon took a 49 year old woman from Houston. Went 250 feet down a bank after leaving the road. |
