Introduction:
The Ride Home BY James "Little Buck" Battles
What a cold Night, What a very cold night, cold, crisp and clear. Man its cold! But it feels good in a way, you know, and so clear on that two way country road. I bet I could see every star in the sky, the sky so bright. The big Harley pulling me, pulling me, pulling me back home, and that sound, those pipes had to be bouncing off every hill around. As I ride all I can hear is that bike bellowing out the Harley sound. Twisting and turning, rising and falling, pulling me, pulling me, pulling me back home. I come up over a rise and I can feel that rush of warmth run through my bones. Now I dip down, down into the valley. The air is so cold it stings upon my face. The fog so thick that in seconds I am covered in wetness. The night so crisp you can smell every smell. On that long straight-away I can smell cows; must be a farm out there somewhere. Following that highbeam into the night, down that old country back road; pulling me, pulling me, pulling me back home. Out in the distance I see a turn coming. I approach the turn, it's a 90 degree turn. I downshift, the bike gets sideways; I staighten it up and take the turn. Out of the turn and the power is on. 80 miles per hour and now I am gone. Man you can feel the power, feel that speed. Man what a rush, what a feeling to be a biker. To be alive, twisting and turning, shifting, throttle on, pulling me, pulling me, pulling me back to my brothers, to my family, BACK TO HOME
Ride In Peace Little Buck God Bless you, your family, and your brothers..... |
