KATELYNN STINNETT RIDE COORDINATORS 2010
FIRST A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF LAST YEARS COORDINATORS WHO HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE OF DOING THIS EVENT AGAIN FOR 2010. HELLO TO ALL THOSE WHO ARE CONCIDERING BEING A COORDINATORFOR THE FIRST TIME. I WILL NOT LIE TO YOU THIS IS NOT AN EASY UNDERTAKING. THERE WILL BE FORMS TO FILL OUT, POSSIBLE MEDIA INTERVIEWS, DONATIONS TO AQUIRE AND SO ON. THE LIST IS LONG, BUT THE SATISFACTION OF HELPING KIDS WHO ARE OR WHO MIGHT POTENTIALLY BE VICTIMS OF CHILD ABUSE IS LIKE NO OTHER. LAST YEAR WAS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR MANY OF US. ESPECIALLY ME. FROM THOSE EXPERIENCES I HOPE TO MAKE THIS RIDE GO EASIER THAN LAST YEAR. PLEASE READ ALL THE ENCLOSED INFORMATION BEFORE DECIDING IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE THE COMMITMENT OF BEING A COORDINATOR.WE CAN ONLY DO THIS WITH YOUR COMMITMENT. Katelynns Story
Katelynn Stinnett died December 3rd 2008 from the injuries she received from a brutal beating and rape that occurred in Lexington KY. This precious child was only 2 years old. She along with her brother, lived with her father in an apartment that he shared with his roommate Brian Crabtree. Crabtree is allegedly the person that did these horrible things to Katelynn. I have to say alleged because he has not yet been tried in a court of law. Myself along with several friends attended her funeral and also did Honor Guard for her. Her services were held at a lttle church in Lexington KY. We never left Katy. We arrived that Saturday before the viewing was to begin, and did not leave until we went to the cemetery the following day.We carried her tiny casket at the cemetery,and I must say that is probably the hardest thing I personally have ever had to do. There are many uunanswered questions in this whole saga. Some will be answered at the trial,some we may never know. I can only say what I know to be fact because I do not want to do anything that the defense for the alleged abuser may use to his advantage. Ride Info: We were just going to do a run in Lexington and somehow that just didn't seem to be enough, not for me,and certainly not enough for Katelynn or all the other children of child abuse that have no voice. So in 2009 we did the first annual National Katelynn Stinnett Child Abuse Awareness Memorial Ride. WE made history! We had rides in more than 40 states all on the same day all for one thing. To raise money to help stop and or prevent child abuse. This could not have been done without all the wonderful volunteer coordinators, and organizations like BACA, Legion Riders and USMVMC. ALL monies went to a child abuse prevention and or awareness charity. These charities were chosen by the individual ride coordinators. This way every community that had a ride would benefit Some coordinators found programs that take in kids that are being abused at home,some gave their monies to programs that go into schools and make kids aware that being hit is not supposed to happen and let's them know they have options available to them. The individual coordinators were responsible for mapping out their route,determining the mileage,sponsorship if they so chose,media coverage if they so chose,and what kind of run they wanted to have. . In 2010 we are doing the same thing and once again are asking for everyones help and participation. If you or someone you know would like to become involved please contact katelynnride@yahoo.com .
