Introduction:

Hi I thought I should explain some of the video above and a little about myself, too.

The students that are protesting in the video are from Gallaudet University, the World's only Liberal Arts University for the Deaf. It is very old, and as of 1988 was still being run by people who were not Deaf, and who did not know how to sign. In 1988, even though there were 2 candidates who were Deaf and qualified to run the Univeristy, the Board picked yet another hearing person who did not know how to sign. The students had a revolution and took over the campus for 9 days, I believe. This was called "The Week the World Heard Gallaudet". They forced half of the board to resign, and forced the appointment of Gallaudet's first Deaf President ever, Dr. I King Jordan, who is the man that says he has a very important but brief message. He became Deaf himself from a motorcycle accident, when he was younger.

The part about the police shooting a Deaf man, is an ongoing problem. I was a social worker and civil rights activist for years. I personally know of 2 other different case where the police knew the individual was Deaf, did not provide and interpreter and shot or choked and killed them because they did not follow verbal commands. In my personal life, at least 5 times I have had the police pull guns on me and slam me down because I did not hear them and stop when they commanded. In my professional life, I met with countless police chiefs and was appalled at how ignorant many of them were, but I did meet a few who were on the ball.

I myself have been arrested for civil disobedience(for the most part even though some charges were different) many times in Boston, Washington DC, Albany(New York), San Francisco, Columbus(Ohio), to name a few. I fought for the rights of people to not have to go to nursing homes or institutions because they needed physical and/or mental support services. I helped to create an agency which was able to provide these services to individuals in their own homes and keep them in the community at a fraction of the cost of nursing homes and institutions, and provide more employment opportunities in the community, as well as dignity for individuals.

I am no longer a social worker, having burned out after over 20 years of services. This video means a lot to me, and is very beautiful. I do not plan to go back to the field, but my heart will always have the hope of a better world for all.

Hi,

Guys and gals welcome join me for friends, I want some more riding buddies and party people.

Respectful guy, who is friendly and likes people and life and likes to be around the same. Love to party with good people. Deaf and read lips, have to look at me and maybe talk a little slower. I do know sign language very well and use it and have Deaf friends that ride with me sometimes, who also use sign language.

Avid Harley owner, small side business buying and parting out bikes on ebay. You probably see me at the swap meets.

Have had about 26 Harleys in last 6 years. Currently ride a 1983 FLHT Shovelhead and a 1985 FLT chopped into a bobber.

Ride to work everyday, dont own a cage. Ride everywhere and love it.

Just want have fun hang out and party get my head leveled out and enjoy life, no bullshit and ride free.

Looking for friends male and female that I can ride with a chat with as I think too damn much some times and partying with other bikers seems to be the only escape I have from the mess in my head from a few years of trying to live the "normal" life. I appreciate good people and would rather party with a bunch of non-bikers who were cool then bikers who were jerks, but so far I havent had to make that choice cuz most bikers just cool people trying to have a good time.

I been riding for 40 years, my mom rode, my dad rode, and my sister rode too. Sis and mom gone afterlife now and have been for a while and dad dont ride anymore.

Bikes have been the one constant thing in my life, and I am grateful for them and i do live to ride and ride to live.

Smile
John
