SAN DIEGO — A motorcyclist died after he was struck and dragged down Interstate 8 by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said. The motorcyclist was identified by the Medical Examiner's Office as Eric Sean Enockson, a 36-year-old San Diego resident. The driver of a Chevrolet Astro van was going about 100 mph west on the freeway near Sunset Cliffs Boulevard after 2 a.m. when her van crashed into the back of the motorcycle, authorities said. Enockson was dragged under the van for quite a distance as the driver continued to drive on, a CHP sergeant said. The driver, Claudia Herrera, 27, of San Diego, was later arrested by San Diego police on Point Loma Boulevard. She was booked into Las Colinas jail on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, hit-and-run driving and vehicular manslaughter

CHP Officer Denise Quesada advised the Dispatch the 51-year-old Reister was a novice rider. A friend said she had been riding for a year or two. According to witnesses she was operating the bike conservatively at about 35 mph. As Reister approached a long curve, however, she lost control and the Harley left the road and struck a rock formation. Kelly was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead about 8 pm after being flown to Mission Hospital. Kelly was the Sales and Marketing Director at Shur-lock Company where her outgoing personality was appreciated by co-workers and clients. She was close to her father who was out-of-town when the accident occurred. Kelly was single.

This happened on Saturday - UPDATE: May 10, 3:30 pm LAKE ELSINORE - An Orange County man died when his motorcycle struck a sedan on the Ortega (74) Highway near the Lookout Roadhouse, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said today. Dario Moreno, 30, of Rancho Santa Margarita was riding a 2006 Honda when the crash occurred at 11:42 a.m. Saturday about a quarter-mile uphill from the Roadhouse, according to CHP and the Riverside County coroner. Moreno was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where he was pronounced dead at 12:37 p.m., a deputy coroner said. An employee at the Lookout said she'd heard the motorcyclist may have tried to pass another vehicle on a blind curve and struck the sedan head-on. She did not want to be quoted by name. Details of the CHP crash investigation were not available.

Lightning Strike Kills Man on Motorcycle Troy Gentzler, 45, was volunteering for Bikers Against Child Abuse when he died. (April 27) -- A Lawrence, Kan., man died Saturday after he was struck by a bolt of lightning as he and six companions rode their motorcycles through a rainstorm, the Lawrence Journal-World reported. Troy Gentzler, 45, was killed shortly after visiting an abuse victim for the northeast Kansas chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse. The bolt struck as the group was traveling between the towns of Grantville and Perry. "You can sum it up in one word: bizarre," Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig told the newspaper. A woman riding next to Gentzler was injured in the accident. She was treated at a hospital and released. Bikers Against Child Abuse supports children who have suffered physical or sexual abuse. Members of Gentzler's chapter conducted their annual tour Saturday, visiting people who had been in the program for several years, the Journal-World reported. Gentzler had been a member for about two years.
