I am not defined by my gender. when was the last time someone pointed at you and said "look at that biker-guy"........ ha-ha-ha

O.S.B means not giving a damn what others think about you, your ride, or your opinions. You ride because you enjoy it NOT because you want to be seen. "Old School Bikers" take care of their own and they know who that is. You stop to help no matter who they are and if they flag you on then you have no regrets. O.S.B. is about respect and caring. It is NOT about beeing seen and carrying a lot of baggage about what was, is or will be. If you're not down with that then who the hell cares?!

I would just like to ask, Are you truly joining this event because you believe in your heart and soul what being "old school" means or because it looks good on your page. If you are truly "old school" then you know that bikers take care of their own, we pick our brothers and sisters up when their down, we got their backs no matter what, when their broke down on the side of the rd we stop and asst., We are givers not takers, we are not weekend warriors or rolex rollers. We're in for the long hall and always have been. If you are "old school" and "old school is cool", then would you please join me in helping one of our own, one that has lost faith that bikers have forgotten who they are and what they stand for. Please join me by taking a stand and lending a hand
"old school" style for "HARLEYDIVA" and the "CHRISTMAS IN JULY" event. You can find the event and "HARLEYDIVA" on my page, please take the time to read this event and post your comments, "TAKE A STAND AND LEND A HAND". OLD SCHOOL IS COOL AND I'VE BEEN RIDING SINCE I WAS 12!!!

Thank you Roadkill. I see your point and yes, I have been following those same rules for many years. In the military we learned very quickly not to take all that we want, but to take all that we need. Be ready to assist each other and always pass on our gained knowledge to the younger ones following us. You are a true old schooler Raodkill, I have learned something new from you today.

ARE YOU OLD SCHOOL. Are you truely a part of the true biker community. Do you understand the meaning of brotherhood and look after those you ride with as family. Ride Hard -Die Free is not just a fancy patch you buy at a bike rally. Do you ride your bike to Bike Week no matter how far it is, or do you trailer it like a sissy. Bikers like us are rare and hard to come by. Keep the shiny side up and watch out for that fool in the cage talking on that cell phone. Had one yesterday right beside my left side with windows down and still pulled right over on me. Good thing I was alert or I might not be typing this today.

This is too good not to share. It epitomizes what a true "biker" really is....
There is more to aging than just gray hair. Wistful yearning for something past, or nostalgia as it is known, is also part of the aging process.
I can't help myself from mourning the loss of what motorcycling once was. In those days we would leave on an overnighter or gypsy tour with just a ground cover and a blanket. Wrapped inside the blanket were a couple bottles of beer and some beef jerky. Half of the time there was no destination, no maps - just take a road, any road. You eventually would end up somewhere. With many days on the road, of course there were no showers, just the creeks or a gas station sink. What you wore when you left is what you were wearing when you got home. The friends that were made and the adventures and sights that we saw are still in my memories today.
Now hotel reservations are made in advance and only after searching the web to be sure there is a pool, Jacuzzi, wet bar in the room, a masseuse and complimentary cocktails on the veranda.
The first thing packed is the American Express Card followed by the GPS device so they can't get lost and are able to find their way back home. It is then followed by the laptop, digital camera, Bermuda shorts, hair dryer and assorted designer clothes. I left out the cell phone because that is a given and have seen many that appear to have them implanted in their ear anyway. I guess that keeps them from forgetting it?
The motorcycle manufacturers also realize that the bikers of the past are gone. Luggage racks have been relegated to just a decorative item with not enough room to put a tool bag let alone a six-pack. In fact many new bikes do not come with the traditional tool bag.
If there is a sissy bar, it is not big enough to keep a passenger on the bike, let alone strap a tarp and blanket to. What really makes me nauseous is that you can access the internet from your new bike, play video games on it, push button electric powered windshields, and of all things, have it say hello when you get on it. There is more that they do but I have to stop before I start to cry.
I should have been a cowboy. At least they have remained true to their life style.
Their ride, the horse, has not suffered the embarrassment of their counterpart, the motorcycle. It still has four legs and the mechanisms for riding it that has remained the same for hundreds of years. You can still strap a blanket and rain slicker on it. It still uses the same fuel and as far as I know, no attempt to have it talk to you or put an air bag on it has been made?
Cowboys are still respected and no attempt to take their freedoms away has been made. They can wear a cowboy hat, bandanna or helmet if they choose and have never been made part of gang legislation. Unlike the new breed of motorcyclist, they learn how to ride their horse and how to take care of it. They also enjoy riding their horse and that is why you will not see a cowboy on a cell phone. Well if you do, you can bet it would be a city slicker.
No longer can you tell a biker by the horizontal oil stain on their left leg from the oil thrown off the chain. Now it's drive shafts and belts.
I feel sorry for the new biker that has not enjoyed the road the way it used to be. I'm afraid my nostalgia has moved on to melancholy.
Each generation enjoys what they do and the way they do it, so I certainly cannot deny them that. I would imagine in the future, when they are old, they will be upset with the young whippersnappers that have no wheels on their bike, are levitating around town and have their own personal robot to park it for them?
I just have one request from us graybeards: If you have to use your cell phone, GPS, computer, e-mail your stock broker or your bike is going to talk to you, have the courtesy to go somewhere where we can't see you.
Long may you ride, O.S.B.

AS IT HAS BEEN AWHILE SINCE I SAID SOMETHING AT LEAST SUBSTANTIAL I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT SINCE WE (AS IN THE REAL ONES THAT RIDE AND LIVE THIS LIFE) BURIED (AT LEAST THE FINAL SERVICE FOR HIM) A CLOSE FRIEND!
I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND YOU ALL OF THE REAL PEOPLE HERE THE ONES THAT HOLD THIS LIFE SO CLOSE TO THEIR HEART AND LIVE AND DIE FOR IT ON A DAILY BASIS SO THE ONES THAT CAN LIE CHEAT AND STEAL THERE GLORY BY THE MANIFESTATION OF WHAT THIS IS REALLY ABOUT!
I MYSELF PERSONALLY HAVE LOST MANY OF MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS OVER THE LAST 40 YEARS OF RIDE'N AND I FEEL LUCKY TO JUST BE HERE THIS DAY WITH-OUT TO MUCH DAMAGE TO MYSELF AS I'M STILL RIDING AND STILL TRYING HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHY SO MANY OF YOU FAKES TRY TO BE ME!
I TEND TO SHAKE MY HEAD AT THE WANNA BE'S AND THE RUB'S OR WHAT EVER THEY WANT TO CALL THEMSELVES TODAY! I LOOK AND LAUGH AT YOU! WITH ALL THE DISRESPECT AND CONTEMPT YOU HAVE TO THOSE THAT HAVE PAID THERE DUES IN FULL!
YOU'LL NEVER HAVE A CLUE TO WHAT I'M SAYING HERE UNTIL YOU HAVE LIVED MY LIFE AND PAY THE MANY DUES THAT IT TAKES TO EVEN HAVE A GLIMPSE OF THE WHOLE IDEA OF WHAT A REAL OLD SCHOOL BIKER IS AND WHAT IT TAKES TO BECOME ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE!
DAMN IT PISSES ME OFF EVERY TIME I LOOK AROUND AS SEE THOSE THAT HAVE NO CLUE! I PITY YOU AND THE DAY THAT YOU DIE FROM YOUR FOOLISHNESS OF WHAT YOU THINK YOU HAVE BECOME YOU'LL NEVER KNOW THE REPERCUSSIONS OF THE STUPID STUNT THAT YOU PULLED!
OLD BIKERS LIKE MYSELF HAVE GOTTEN HERE FOR A REASON! SURE I LIKED THE SPEED AND THE STUNTS IN MY YOUTH DAMN EVEN RACED BIKES ON A 1/4 MILER AND STILL HAVE THE NEED TO TWIST THE WICK!
I JUST WISH IF EVERYTHING I DID IN MY LIFE & TIME WOULD EVER BE ABLE TO DO OVER I'D DO THE SAME THINGS AND MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES AND BE JUST THE BETTER PERSON AND SHINE LIKE I DO TODAY!
THINK ABOUT WHAT YOUR GOING TO DO! THINK ABOUT WHO IT WILL EFFECT! AND NEVER EVER DO ANYTHING THAT YOU WOULDN'T HAVE DONE TO YOURSELF THAT YOU WOULD DO TO OTHERS!
I HURT TODAY MY TEARS RUN FREELY FOR THE ONES I HAVE LOST AS CLOSE FRIENDS BROTHERS AND SISTERS!
I KNOW MY TIME IS SOON AS ONE DAY IT WILL BE MY TURN TO LAY THERE IN THAT CASKET AND THE COMMENTS OF HOW WELL I LOOKED! OR I WAS BLOATED! OR IT WAS NOT ME IN THERE! I NEVER LOOKED THAT WAY! OR IF IT WAS UP TO ME THE LID WOULD BE CLOSED AND TO REMEMBER ME THE WAY YOU SEEN ME THE LAST TIME!
I ONLY PRAY THAT SOMETHING WOULD SINK IN TO SOMEONE THAT AT LEAST HAS A HEART TO KNOW WHAT IT IS TO BE..........
PEACE BE WITH!

I tell him I need a rear exhaust rocker arm and he says come on down and pick one out of a box I have. When I asked how much do I need to bring ya for it, he said I just told ya , you gotta come down here and pick out the one you want. Guys calls me and the first time we ever talk he gives me a pan part and wont let me pay him even after offering several different times. He says just put it in your bike and ride it. Maybe stop back in and see me on your panhead. THAT my friends is old school to the bone, to give a stranger a part just to see him ride again. I was not even on the side of the road broke, he just heard I was lookin to buy a part to fix my pan so he calls me. Just ride your pan , old school is very alive and well.

I don't remember the model of bikes my uncles rode... all were full dresser's. My Uncle Gary's was blue and white, and loud 'n proud! We used to ride in the foothills of So Cal.
My first real ole' man was in an MC in Alabama, he had a Canary Yellow '49 Pan Chopper. It was the beginning of bike week in '75. Was driving down I-95 with my sis... here comes this large pack of bikes... after they passed, one dropped back and got along side the car, pointed to me and to the back of his bike... I about creamed my jeans, he was sooo good looking! His 'name' was Trash. I ended up spending Bikeweek with him and then went on back to Alabama with him. I was almost 19, started dancing while I was with him. Yep.. wonder what happened to him?! :)

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN THE LAST TRUE BIKER FALLS
[/quote]
I am old school, southern and country bred, born and raised. I dont see the last true biker falling for a very long time cause we still raisin our kids that way out here in the sticks. The kids round here might have a few new age taste but they still get / got and keep those old school values for the most part. My son is 24 now and my 6 foot tall frame swells up to 10 foot when I see him makin the right choices and givin his friends advice, doing the right thing even when he thinks nobody sees or tellin some jerk his opinion. I can clearly see me and my old man in him. Old school numbers might be down some BUT it still has a lot of life left to go yet. Just my outlook but you know somewhere there is a kid lookin up to an old school biker and thinkin to himself, that guy is cool and I am gonna grow up to be just like him......
Just be a good example of an old school biker and even when you might not see it , some kid in a store with his momma`s jerkin his hand and tellin him not to look, will be peekin around some counter and thinkin , "man I am gonna grow up to be just like him".
Then we aint got nuttin to worry about , our old school ways will survive.

My first ride-I was 10 and I had spent the nite with a girlfriend and her dad took me home the next day on his Harley. I begged that man to ride me around some more and he took me on a long ride and to this day there is and never will be anything to compare to riding. My mom had a cow when I got home by the way! emryldeyez... what year was that you hitched to Sturgis? I did the same thing with a friend the last year they let people camp in the city park.. the year the porta-potties were set on fire.
Got arrested in Deadwood during the run there from Sturgis for a giving a tit-shot. The Deadwood judge was gone fishin', the cops called the Sturgis judge. He told them to just let me go, but they said they already arrested me, so ended up paying a $23 fine... lol... signed a paper I wouldn't be back for court. I mud wrestled every nite that week... got to the last winning round, and finally got whooped in the mud... :). Lots of fun that year... and durn, did it ever get cold at nite! I think this was '78 or '79. Made it into Easyriders Sturgis issue for that year... 'Wild Mud Wrestling Women' feature article with a few pics of me. Then also, Supercycle Mag was just getting started... got a half page pic of me giving a tit-shot at the City Park.
Good old days.... :)

It had a brake pedal welded to a plate that just pressed against the back wheel, the return spring was a bicycle innertube that I knotted around the frame and pedal. I used the throttle off of the lawn mower, I still can't believe I never killed myself on that thing, but Damn it was fun!!!

First ride a 250 on the back roads loving every moment. When I put an 84 shovelhead between my legs I knew I was hooked and have been every since.
