Mare, I'm still praying for you and Tiff and am hoping things have improved since your last post, that the infections are gone and she has healed from her accident. my daughter is getting really sick... her blood pressure has gotten so high that they have now put her on blood pressure meds... yep, at 28 yrs old... her phospherous is too high so meds for that and she has yet another kidney infections... all this then she gets rear ended last week by some idiot not paying attention and gets a sprained wrist and body contusions... tiffany continues on dialysis at home, they have increased the dosage as well as the time she is connected to the dialysis machine however the dialysis is not working as well as it should... its not pulling off as much fluid as needed... bless her heart please keep her in your thoughts and prayers ;-) thank you all

SAW A SPECIALIST & HE SAID B/C SHE IS BLIND IN HER LEFT EYE & THE MUSCLE IS NOT WORKING THE INFECTION WILL NOT GO COMPLETELY AWAY & HAS THE POTENTION OF BEING VERY SERIOUS SINCE SHE HAS NO IMMUNE SYSTEM... HE SAID SHE NEEDS SURGERY THEREFORE LOOKS LIKE SURGERY LATER THIS MONTH... ON A SOMEWHAT LIGHTER NOTE, IF THE GIRL SOMETIMES DIDN'T HAVE BAD LUCK SHE WOULD HAVE NO LUCK AT ALL... SHE & HER MAN WERE AT MAZDA THE OTHER DAY GETTING A PART FOR HER CAR... A GOODYEAR TRUCK CAME TO MAKE A DELIVERY, HIT THE AWNING AND THE AWNING FELL ON HER CAR... Tiffany seems to be doing pretty good on dialysis... they did this week find alot of black mold in her home therefore somehow she & her fiance' stephen are going to try to figure out where to move to now... low income as they are both disabled (he almost died twice a few months ago due to such bad asthma attacks - now we know why!) and their landlord is a jerk who has never made the repairs she requested before they moved in...(i tried to get the city involved however they were no help - hell i didn't even get a return ph call at times)... she needs a much of a sterile enviornment as possible since she is performing the dialysis on herself (she has to wear mask/gloves etc when 'hooking up' to the machine... keep them in your prayers as they seek another rental home or apartment please :-) thanks to all! we just love ya!

TIFFANY HAS NOW DONE TWO TREATMENTS OF DIALYSIS AT HOME CONNECTING HERSELF AND ALL THAT GREAT STUFF...SHE IS DOING A GREAT JOB! SO PROUD OF HER!! I WILL POST A FEW PICS IN AN ALBUM PROBABLY LATER TODAY SO YOU GUYS CAN SEE HOW SHE IS DOING! AS ALWAYS, THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!

Tiffany is doing well so far on the peritoneal dialysis. I know how to give the treatment to her and they also taught Tiffany (of course) and her man Stephen...today was Tiffanys last long day at the doctors office as the machine and many bags of solution, betadine, etc were delivered to her... now she can hook up and have the kidney dialysis performed at night while she sleep...she's just got to figure out how to get her dogs to stop sleeping on the bed with her now...lol! seriously, too dangerous if they were to chew the tube or get tangled in it...at any rate she is feeling okay these days...very tired but we hope with the continuing dialysis that will improve plus the doc is once again putting he on iron supplements (she didn't do well on them years ago)... thank you all for your comments... we love ya!

Tiffany spent the day from 9:30am until 7pm doing dialysis... a long day for my sweet gal... she is exhausted but still in good spirits...she is finally on the list so her waiting period is now 3-5 yrs for a kidney therefore she will have to have dialysis performed for 8+ hrs a day until then... hopefully we will find a kidney soon but until then she as always is being a real trooper! love to you all! So far so good Tiffanys first day of dialysis... they started about 9:30am and she should finish up about 4:30pm... If any of you are card senders like I am, I am sure she would love a card... she likes to read the messages on here as you guys give her strenght. Tiffany went to the eye specialist and she does have a severe infection due to scratches on her eye...she has no idea how she got them...he started on her meds so it should be okay...THEN she came down with a urinary tract infection yesterday afternoon...she was in so much pain when she called me she was crying... it seems to be a never ending thing lately, however they will start dialysis next Tuesday so that will hopefully help. We then start looking for a kidney and if one is not found soon, watch out people i may start digging around until i find a 0 kidney... promise i will leave you in ice and put a note on your belly to call 911...lol!!!!

Tiffanys surgery went well... she is still sore from the incision as it was only a week ago, however feeling pretty good other than that. Her creatinine level is still very high and her kidney doctors want to start her on dialysis ASAP. Per her surgeon she can start kidney dialysis two weeks from today to start getting rid of the poisons & all the fluid she has been retaining. She is in great spirits & feels very positive about it and so do I. Thank you all so very much for your positive comments, your support and prayers. You guys are the greatest. Our love, Mare & Tiff

Tiffany went back to the doctor yesterday...due to all the poisons in her blood the whites of her eyes are yellowing therefore they have moved the surgery up to this Monday 2pm...they will insert the tube then once the tube has been in for approx 1 week she will start peritoneal dialysis. Tiffanys thoughts have improved a great bit since doing more research on peritoneal dialysis, etc. She is feeling more positive about the situation than she was before which is great. I'll let you guys know how it goes after the surgery Monday. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Tiffany and I send our best wishes to you along with our love and heart felt thanks!

THERE IS A CHANCE THE SURGERY WILL NOT WORK BECAUSE ONCE THE AREA HAS BEEN USED FOR DIALYSIS AS IT WAS YEARS AGO THE SCAR TISSUE WON'T ALLOW IT TO BE USED AGAIN...PLS PRAY THAT THE SURGERY IS A SUCCESS...IN THE EVENT IT IS NOT THE ALTERNATIVE IS TO START TIFFANY ON HEMODIALYSIS AND HER DOCTORS DO NOT THINK SHE IS STRONG ENOUGH FOR IT. PLUS WITH PERITONEAL DIALYSIS SHE CAN BE CONNECTED TO THE MACHINE AT HOME FOR APPROX 8 HRS EACH NIGHT AND THE DIALYSIS CAN BE PERFORMED WHILE SHE SLEEPS AS OPPOSED TO HAVING TO GO TO THE DIALYSIS CENTER SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK AND SIT IN A CHAIR WHILE HER BLOOD IS CLEANSED...THANKS FOR ALL YOUR MESSAGES & PRAYERS... Tiffany is feeling a little better today... Her Creatinine level has come down...for those of you who don't know what a creatine level is here's some info: Creatinine is a chemical waste molecule that is generated from muscle metabolism. Creatinine is produced from creatine, a molecule of major importance for energy production in muscles. Approximately 2% of the body's creatine is converted to creatinine every day. Creatinine is transported through the bloodstream to the kidneys. The kidneys filter out most of the creatinine and dispose of it in the urine. The kidneys maintain the blood creatinine in a normal range. Creatinine has been found to be a fairly reliable indicator of kidney function. As the kidneys become impaired for any reason, the creatinine level in the blood will rise due to poor clearance by the kidneys. Abnormally high levels of creatinine thus warn of possible malfunction or failure of the kidneys. It is for this reason that standard blood tests routinely check the amount of creatinine in the blood. Normal levels of creatinine in the blood are approximately 0.6 to 1.2 milligrams (mg) per deciliter (dl) in adult males and 0.5 to 1.1 milligrams per deciliter in adult females. Tiffany's Creatinine level was 8.0 on Sunday... yesterday it was 6.7 and today it is 6.0... still very high so they are monitoring her... her kidney is still functioning somewhat so they hope it will continue to decrease today and will decide tomorrow what to do tomorrow... IF IT DOES THEY WILL POSSIBLY GO AHEAD AND DO THE SURGERY TO INSERT THE TUBE FOR PERITONEAL DIALYSIS WHICH WOULD THEN BE STARTED ON HER IN APPROX 1 WEEK... FYI-Tiffany was taken via ambulance to the hospital yesterday...high fever & in so much pain she couldn't walk...they have her on morphine right now for pain & are trying to determine exactly where her infection is... thanks to all for your messages and please keep my baby girl (yeah i know she is 27) in your prayers... thank you my bon friends... Mare, I am sorry to hear that your daughter is sick. How old is she? Does she live in Charlotte? I am sorry to not know very much about what is going on. Regardless...I will pray for her, you and the family. A sick family member is very stressful and worrysome. Cast your cares on Jesus because HE cares for you. There are many scriptures in the BIBLE regarding sickness, why people get sick, why some are healed and why some are not. We do not know the answers for each person, but GOD has HIS awesome plan in the works. The WORD says "By HIS stripes WE WERE HEALED!" The Bible speaks of the stripes from the Cat of Nine Tails that whipped across the body of Christ as He was put through the trials and when HE was crucified. HE has already bore the SUFFERING for us. So....CLAIM HER HEALING. By the WORD OF GOD...SHE IS ALREADY HEALED. Go buy her a book of Scriptures for HEALING..these are PROMISES of GOD. You can even look these up ONLINE. Okay, as it turns out they had Tiffany in today to run a ton of test to work towards getting her on the transplant list~we weren't informed why they were doing the EKG until after they gave her a drug test because they of course did not want her to know she was getting drug tested... she passed of course :-) She is on two many other drugs (steroids/anti-seizure meds, etc to mess around with other drugs) It was an extremely long day for her: EKG / chest x-rays / drug test / psychiatric evaluationi etc... They took 10 vials of blood from her... Found out after doing a bone density test (one of many they have done in the past) that she has the bones of a woman in her late 60's...they hope to be able to reverse some of the damage after the kidney transplant... They are going to look at all test from today once the results are in then present them to the National Transplant Committee to see if she qualifies to be put on the list... Pray that she makes it on the list ~ once on the list for her blood type (0) there is a 3-5yr waiting period for a kidney ~ I have had several awesome people state that they have 0 blood and would like to be tested, therefore I did get some packets to give to those who can be tested, not everyone can do it...one of these people is my 20 yr old nephew who has been trying to get tested for her since he was 15yrs old (she has been sick a long time) Of course laws would not allow my nephew to be tested however he has been adamant about being tested once old enough & his now is so Brennan has stepped up to the plate... All who have volunteered to be tested have warmed my heart...Leather & Lace, A_Real_Good_Man and Bardancer have volunteered as well & you all will never know how much the thought itself means to me...You guys warm my heart... All who have Tiffany in their thoughts and prayers have warmed my heart too... She told me to send a big thank you to all of you so THANK YOU!! You people are just awesome!! KRUZIN' WITH KRIS - thank you so much for your note girl... unfortunately I know you can relate... the donor has to have type 0 blood...doesn't matter if it is positive or negative...I have had two wonderful BON friends who are type 0 ask to be tested & I am in the process of getting packets for them to give to their doctor or take with them to my daughters doc...what usually happens first is they take some of the type 0 possible donor blood & they take some of my daughters blood...they kind of put the two together & see how well they get along...if they 'fight' too much, not a good match - i know this as my wonderful brother wanted to give her his kidney more than anything however their bloods were not compatible... if the two bloods get along pretty well, then they do a little further testing & go from there... bless your heart for asking & if anyone with type 0 would like to be tested I will have the packets needed to be taken to your own doc or to my daughters kidney specialist here in charlotte... Hey Mare, as we talked before I know how special our babies are to us. Is there anything that any of us (if others are willing of course) that we can be tested to be a donor? I would do what I could for a mother (or family) to not have to go through the hell that I have lived with for the last 3 years. I'm game, test me. How can I do this? Screw a list, let the kidney come to her.

I know it's tough when your kid gets sick. My daughter had skin cancer at the age of 14 and at the age of almost 22 she had another close call. My prayers as well as many others are with you and your daughter, just remember there are many friends that are here to help and support you, don't be afraid to ask for it.!!! Be strong, it will all work out for the best!
