Description:	Prayer is a most powerful thing, no matter who your God is. In 2003 my little brother Mike was diagnosed with Mantel Cell Lymphoma, stage 4. This came 7 days after our middle brother was killed in a horrible car accident. Mike was given just 8-10 months and told there wasn't but just a small chance any treatment would work. Through his friends and family and through my friends and family in the fire service, the USAF and the biker family, we networked and had thousands praying back then. It worked and after two types of chemo and near death... he achieved remission. In early 2008, the cancer relapsed and chemo has not worked. In January '09, Mike will undergo a radical high dose chemo treatment that has a 50/50 mortality rate and radiation in the hope that it will kill any cancer in his body. After eight days of that, he will have no immune system. He will receive a bone marrow transplant from our sister. This is his last shot at beating this so we are networking again and asking for prayer. Mike is only 41 and still has much to offer this world and his family. Thank you in advance for your prayers! I really want to pass on our appreciation for the hundred or so replies to the request to kick the prayer chain in the ass. All of you have been so thoughtful and we know those prayers are helping to keep Mike alive. We are also grateful for all the cards. Debbie wanted me to make sure that a special thank you was sent to whoever it was that donated financially. She sat here and cried this morning when she checked the account via phone and found that money had been deposited to assist with the lodging ($235/week) situation. It was 5 minutes or more before she could even tell me why she was crying. All of you have been special angels to Mike and we are all grateful. That donation will help her tremedously since Mike has been downgraded to serious condition. He has contracted a serious pnuemonia and has been placed in ICU. The Dr's told her now is NOT a good time for her tobe leaving here. Debbie is now taking time off work without pay to stay with Mike as she has exhausted her leave balance. Again... we hate to even think about asking because we are always givers and not takers. If there are any clubs interested in assisting financially, please email me direct at haligan7@gmail.com for information on the account and I will send you back account info and verification info. And just so you know, we have explored other avenues such as the American Cancer Society ($250 received), the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society ($0.00 available) and I have asked our Union (International Association of Firefighters) for assistance too. May your day be special and be sure to tell your loved ones and close friends that you love them. Things change in the blink of an eye. Much love and respect to all of you for all you have done to help a stranger.

I just got off the phone with Mike's wife Debbie. I need to ask a favor and that is to kick the prayer chain in the ass, spread the word if you will, please. He is in a bad way right now. Aside from a new "spot" located on his liver, he has inflamation of most internal organs, especially the liver and gall bladder. The doc's need to work on the gall bladder but cannot due to unstable blood and the condition of his liver. White cells are very elevated now and he still has fever. Today is 9 straight days of receiving platelets. Difficulty with breathing has also developed. Deb is frantic... a woman that they came to know while in the hospital there and had gone through the same procedure as Mike recently developed these symptoms and she passed away on Tuesday. Mike is feeling down and is telling Deb he doesn't feel as though he is going to make it now. I am scheduled to go back up there on Sunday but now it may be sooner. After Sunday... I may not be able to get online readily to keep you all updated. Please continue to keep Mike and family in your prayers and I will let you know if there is any progress when I can. Thank you all so much for your love and support of a total stranger... it has been truely inspirational!

I would trade nothing for those days we had together. It was very hard to see her slip away and even harder to say goodbye. I know she is in heaven and that it was her time to go even though it is hard to understand. Your little brother Mike is in God's hands and there is no better place to be. I wish I could say something to take your families pain away of not knowing what the outcome will be. I believe everything happens for a reason. All I can say is to enjoy your loved ones every time you are together for those are the memories that will warm your heart when they are gone...
