Introduction:
You who want to spread Bull Shit and Gossip about me or anyone else? Go for it! But read below before you do!

You're privy to some personal details or acts about someone, or something that was said to you in confidence, and yet, you have your own dirty little secrets or acts of stupidity and incompetence in your own closet. Your “clucking” away about the most inane prattle, dabbling in defamation and basking in belittlement at someone else’s expense may come back to bite you in the ass…BIG TIME! You know what I'm talking about, don't you?

Despite the temporary thrill you get from your own self righteousness, this is dangerous because you place yourself out there in the open too. It’s only obvious in hindsight when you're kicking yourself in the ass from the potential repercussions that may come about (you hope they’re not as small-minded, petty, vindictive, deceitful and insecure as you are). Think about it before opening your big mouth.

Then there’s the chore of keeping the reality, not your drummed up fantasy straight. This takes deliberate effort and forethought on your part so everything stays covered up and properly secured to cover your own ass. When, not if, your earful makes it back to the other, watch out, you will be up shit creek! They probably have as much or more “dirt” on you.

Although it's not fun, you need to ask yourself; What damage will result from your spreading bull shit and gossip when it’s discovered? What trust will you lose from everyone else? What credibility will you lose? What consequences will you face? What are your answers?

Spreading bull shit and gossip should create more guilt and shame in you than the other. You know it's wrong and yet (ahhh, the temptation) you still do it. While you may feel ”justified” even if their actions suck, there should be a part of you that holds basic standards for the way you should treat people in the back of your mind. And the ultimate litmus test is: Do you want someone else talking this way about YOU? Well, do you?

You spread bull shit and gossip to make yourself appear and feel superior to others; to vent your frustrations and powerlessness; to generate sympathy from listeners while you regale with tales of victimization and the dark part of yourself that is really and truly in misery and struggle. Just like going on a drinking binge, it feels momentarily freeing and crazy. But afterwards, you'll pay for it when your natural sense of human decency (if you have any) kicks back in.

You say things that you would never say to their face (spineless comes to mind)…there's a huge gap between your thoughts and actions. You act nice, say a bright hello, pretend to be their friend and then shoot darts dipped in poison. How’s it feel to be a two-faced, back stabbing asshole?

You're hiding something about yourself when you hang someone else’s dirty laundry out to dry, and now you've got to keep on eye on what's out there about yourself, just like a lie. It should feel gross and uncomfortable to you, whether you think so or not. Plus, you want to crawl back in your hole, get the hell away from reality and hide from all the other problems and issues you're having and don’t want to deal with.

The worst part about it is that it makes it hard to connect between yourself and everyone else. The guilt, the awkwardness, the avoidance, the whole dynamic keeps you frozen in your own inner conflicts. It should feel awful and it's sad and pitiful too.

So, the next time you want to spread bull shit and gossip about someone, try this…When you point your finger at someone else, take a good look at your own hand and you’ll notice that there are 3 fingers pointing right back at you…If you have at least one active brain cell, you’ll choose to keep your big mouth shut.

Sure, you'll lose the buzz of scandalmongering and the smearing of someone, but you’ll create the space for something of real importance.
