Introduction:
Aside from your weekend WERA racer or a NESBA/STT junkie, i probably know more about riding a bike than you.
ok i'm not that much of an asshole, i'm pretty laid back and chill. but i do take riding seriously. it's not just a 'hey look at me!' kinda thing, nor is it a 'i got so many compliments on my bike' kinda thing. riding is about mechanical understanding of how your machine works, understanding the laws of physics, being polite to the riders you encounter yet enlightening them on what they need to know, and most importantly, setting a good example for everybody on the roads as to what a motorcyclist should be. wearing proper gear, using blinkers, sufficient space between you and other riders/cars, not trying to prove how fast your bike is (we already know), not kneedragging in public, giving other people the right of way, and just being responsible in general. riding is a privilege, not some god given ability that you and every other idiot has just because you are american. you harley huggers can go screw yourselves as far as i'm concerned. put on a damn helmet and quit being so cocky. the same goes to the squids on sportbikes, stunting and wearing shorts, nike's and wife beaters. nobody thinks you're cool aside from 17 year old girls.....who are you trying to impress?
i suppose i cater more towards the middle age sport touring type, despite my age and what i ride. i've crashed hard.....have you? learn from the mistakes of others and quit thinking that it won't happen to you. it will, and chances are you will die, if not you will be severely disfigured without leathers and a full face helmet, and will break more bones without armor. as i said, i've crashed, but i'm still here with only maybe a square inch of skin missing. that's better than some guys i know can say.....some can't say anything because they're not with us anymore.....
ride safe, ride smart, live to ride again tomorrow. to hell with what everybody else thinks of you! at the end of the day, they wish they could be YOU, riding a bike into the sunset.
becoem a TRUE, SERIOUS rider. you'll live longer and have more fun that way :)
