About Me:
Besides riding: I play classical piano. I play the Great Highland bagpipes. I am a principle soloist in an Anglican choir. I am a professional art director and graphic designer. I'm an optimist. I designed the logo for the city of Atlanta used during the 1996 Olympic games. I also create and produce television commercials for Coca-Cola all over the world.

My love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles started back in 1979 when I painted t-shirts for Big Daddy Rat (the late Karl Smith) at the Rat's Hole in Daytona Beach during Bike Week and the entire summer of 1980. I have a few photos below from those days.

When I first worked for Karl Smith, prior to Bike Week, me and some of the other airbrush artists had to deliver his two newspapers to all the hotels up and down A1A. They were "The Ratty Rag" and "FTW".

It was pretty funny. The mom and pop motels loved it when we showed up to replenish the supply of biker rags, but we would literally get run out of the bigger fancier hotels. The same hotels that years later would embrace the biker community once they figured out bikers were better for business than spring breakers.

Even though Bike Week is coming up on its 68th year, back in the 70s and early 80s it was to some degree an unofficial event and the city fathers did NOT embrace it. Virtually any biker there in those days was deemed a one percenter.

After awhile some of the merchants did the math and realized there was virtually NO shoplifting during Bike Week, but then it would jump up 100 percent during Spring Break. Go figure.

Ah, those were the days.
