My name is Steve but my friends call me "Gopher". I'm a proud father of two of the best kids on the planet. My beautiful daughter Angela,12, and my awesome son Michael, 15. I love to ride my 07 Harley Street Bob any chance I get. Nothing beats the feel of the open road under two wheels, with the wind in your face, and the love of my life sitting behind me. I'm also a proud member of the American Legion Riders, and an officer in A.B.A.T.E. If you ride or know someone who does,(and we all do), get involved. Support your local chapters of A.B.A.T.E. If you don't have a local chapter start one! We fought hard as "bikers" to have the rights we have. Lets keep them. Don't let some bureaucratic asshole in Washington or your State House take those rights away. Also look into MRF, and the AMA. These groups fight for us on the Federal level. If you would like more info on A.B.A.T.E. or the other groups I mentioned please feel free to e-mail me, and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you have. Remember, with FREEDOM comes RESPONSIBILITY!!! Last and most important, I have finally found the person I was meant to be with, my soul mate. She is my best friend. I never thought someone could make a person so happy. You are my EVERYTHING!!! I Love You Cin.

Rest In Peace My Friend

Sadly, I must announce the loss of an outspoken supporter of motorcycle rights here in the Commonwealth. On November 12, 2008 Lt. Governor Catherine Baker Knoll passed away after a valiant fight against Neuroendocrine Cancer. CBK, as she was known to her friends, was an out spoken supporter of A.B.A.T.E. and of our freedoms as bikers as a whole.
She was a regular participant in “The Ride to Gettysburg”. An A.B.A.T.E. sponsored event that helps raise money for the Pennsylvania Gettysburg Monuments Project. She was unable to attend this years ride due to her illness. As a result we dedicated the ride in her name. I would like to thank some of our allies in the state capitol for riding with us this year. They are, Reps. Dan Moul, R-Adams; and Tim Seip, D-Schuylkill/Berks; former Rep. Teresa Forcier of Crawford County and state Supreme Court Judge Seamus McCaffery.
Catherine, may you ride with the angels. We thank you for all you have done for our cause. You will be missed.

As if the loss of CBK wasn’t enough to dampen the holiday spirit, we again lost another one of our own. Charles (Three Tours) Sultzbach Jr. lost his life on December 6th, 2008 as the result of an auto accident. He was only a couple miles from his home when the accident occurred. He was someone that I was proud to have as a friend. This loss angers me. This man was a HERO in anyone’s book as far as I’m concerned. He got his nickname by serving three tours in the Vietnam War. He was a decorated soldier that had laid his life on the line for God and Country. He made great sacrifices throughout his life only to lose it in some freak accident. It REALLY pisses me off. It makes me question why God would have this man survive the horrors of war, only to take him in such a way. This man was so full of life. It should not have been cut so short. With great respect and sadness I say to you Three Tours, Rest In Peace My Brother, my LOVE goes with thee.

We held our election for officers of A.B.A.T.E. District 9, Chapter 69 Liberty Riders, on December 6th. Sharon Joyce was re-elected as chapter President. Also re-elected were, Vice President: Bob Shaver, and Road Captain: Gary Dohner. Newly elected officers are, Legislative Coordinator: Jerry Zalewski, Membership Officer: Stephen Yingst (Me), Secretary: Cindy Smith, Web Master: John Meredith, Treasurer: Michael Hoban, Public Relations: Russ Burke, Sgt at Arms: Chuck Becker, Products: Butch Wenger. Congrads to all who won and a heart felt thank you to all who attended the meeting and cast their vote. I know this is going to be another successful year for our chapter. We gained four new members at this meeting as well. To them I would like to extend a collective welcome and look forward to seeing you at the next meeting. After the meeting we had a little Christmas party for the members. Huffy The Biker Clown was in attendance and joined our chapter. Thanks for your support Huffy. We ate our fill and drank a cup of cheer or two…or three. It was nice to break bread with my brothers and sisters in A.B.A.T.E. After the first of the year however its back to the grindstone, fighting to keep the rights we have and to lobby for legislation to further protect the rights, health and safety of all riders.
As of January our meetings will no longer be held on the first Saturday of the month. In January we start having our meetings on the SECOND Saturday of the month at 1:00pm. This is to avoid conflicts with holidays in 2009. The meeting will still be held at Papa Dino’s Pub and Eatery 1711 Lebanon Rd., Manheim Pa. The meeting is open to all who would like to attend. I encourage all riders, their family and friends to get involved. We DO have a voice! Contact your local and state representatives. Let them know we are out there and we have a vote.

The A.B.A.T.E. of Pa. Leadership and Legislative Seminar is going to be taking place on January 23rd. and 24th. at the Holiday Inn Grantville. Registration is $70 per person.
Registration Includes:
> All Workshops
> Handouts
> General Sessions

Your registration does NOT include your hotel room.
The Holiday Inn has reduced rates for those attending the seminar. They are $74 for single and $74 for double. I booked my room back in September. The rooms go fast so if you are interested in participating I would recommend getting your room now before they are gone. You can contact tham at 717-469-7755. Make sure when you call you let them know that you are attending the seminar that way you get the special rate. All bikers are welcome. You DO NOT have to be an A.B.A.T.E member to attend. You will be amazed what you will learn. You will have a great time.....that I can guarantee you. So come and join the party.
