Introduction:
2011
7th Annual Cheyenne To Deadwood Run
Although 2011 will be the 7th year running, it promises to be 1st year we have a real organization sponsoring and handling the Deadwood Run. The run has been great every year and I’ve managed to scramble and pull together between $3,000 and $5,000 worth or raffle cash (mostly) and prizes each year. But with my relocation it was difficult to pull 2010 off like usual. So I reached out to friends from Los Angeles to Mount Shasta, from Oakland through Vegas to Reno (so far) to hand over full management and the sponsorship raffles at each stop, games and the fun, to a true organization that will have the run a nationally recognized rally in a matter of 3-days. These guys are the definition of authentic. They have the property and resources for not only a great ride to Deadwood, but an all weekend party when we get there. These guys are the real deal!!!
More information will be publicized here and other places as events unfold through 2010 and 2011. Including rally details, prizes location and the like.

The name of the original stage run in 1876 was, “Cheyenne and Black hills Stage and Express Line”.
Although the black hills stage wasn’t as significant as the Overland Stage, there isn't any doubt this stage run had more stories and attracted more attention than any other.
The fame of the stage and even Deadwood itself was assured by having passengers like Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane and Wyatt Earp. It was a regular mention in dime store novels. The stage was also a routine re-enactment of Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show. The coach was purchased by Col. Cody in 1911 and is now on exhibit at the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody Wyoming.
The stage line initially ran from Cheyenne Wyoming via Horse Creek, Bear Springs, Chugwater, Chug Springs, Eagle's Nest, and Fort Laramie. At Hat Creek Station, (north of present day Lusk) the stage road split, one branch continuing due north past the aptly named “Robbers Roost” that Follows the approximate line of our present-day Highway 85 into Deadwood.
We can imagine Hickok Earp Calamity and Cody appreciating our modern day run.
