Introduction:
"RETIRED - REDISCOVERING - REENGINEERING - RECREATING & REACHING OUT"

I'M NOT LOOKING AT MAKING THIS A POPULARITY CONTEST TO SEE HOW MANY "FRIENDS" I CAN ADD - I do delete names of buds who don't occasionally communicate. Please do take the time to read my profile...so you know where I'm comin' from...AND above all, we don't waste each other's time)
Turn ons:
Emotionally Intelligent people who learn from their life's experiences, who emerge feeling at peace with themselves and comfortable in their own skin...people who are there when you are down
Turn offs:
Mean, hostile, selfish and emotionally immature people of any kind, gender or persuasion whose public masks are nothing more than subconscious expressions of their deepest insecurities.
Ideal:
My SPOUSE: my life partner, our childrens' Mom, a first-rate combat veteran
Activities:
Getting out and about. I'm a wanderlust by nature. Since retirement, I've done just that, riding my motorcycles with my buds and driving my roadster. It's a big universe out there. Keeping up with my fitness...which means walking, running and working out...gettin' air in the ole brain. Socializing with my friends from different walks/philosophies of life.

Interests:
Mindfulness activities to enhance my self awareness...there's just so much to do in that area. Astronomy and cosmology. Music. Current events...I'm a news and weather junkie. Kinship: Enjoying the variety of fem eye candy's lines and philosophies...look but don't touch! Sharing philosophies. Learning from and coaching people (who ask) in life skills, sharing with kindred souls. Mediation and dispute resolution.
Favorite Music:
Rock - (incl Southern rock); Jazz - (most all kinds); Country - (especially Austin-country); Latino - (especially the Salsa - Jazz kinds that shakes-your-booty-that-makes-you go ass-wild!)
Favorite TV Shows:
News. Laffs. PBS, Discover Channel.
"Desperate Housewives" (healthy laffs about the human condition), "Brothers and Sisters" (can we all relate to the dysfunctional character in our families?), "Boston Legal" (the first real foray into male bonding...not to mention the funny escapades pertaining to the male - female sexuality game...the perfect statement about the male conundrum...sad to see it wrap up).
Favorite Movies:
Movies and documentaries that make your chuckle, think and reflect.
Favorite Books:
Full Catastrophe Living, Wounded Soldier / Healing Warrior, Boomer, Healthy Aging, Emotional Intelligence, Seven Habits and other tomes I'm currently perusing. I'm not a voracious reader...selective based on my current topic of interest.
For entertainment: Motorcycling mags, astronomy articles, weekly tabloids like Newsweek and others.
Austin area tabloids: Good Life, Austin Chronicle, et al
Favorite Quotes:
"Our overall well-being is based significantly on ones concept of Faith, Hope and Love."

"If you can accept the fact that we leave the world the same way we entered it, ALONE, then you begin appreciate the fact that nothing is yours, nothing is forever. CHERISH everything and everyone with whom you come in contact.
About Me:
Enthusiastically moving on in the journey of life.
I retired from the military service...Air Force officer. Vietnam veteran...Proudly served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman with the 3rd Marine Division in 66-67...(what a life changing experience...my heart is with those guys and gals who are putting their lives on the line, regardless of what we think of the current political morass). Enough about my past in uniform, but the background may give insight into my values.

College (Univ of Texas, Austin) grad...it simply opened the doors of awareness for me...life's a continuous education process. Now it's onto new personal and professional challenges...and new perspectives.

Living retired life and the transition to the fullest as I transition to the next phase of service to the world around me. It's great to not be in debt to anyone, other than my family.

Married to a spouse still in the military, an Iraq vet, and I'm damned proud of her. She's been reassigned away from home as she moves on in her career, and I'm staying back tending the homefires. Two children: my son is an aspiring chef, and my daughter left for the Navy in May 08. (He's a gifted culinary artist. She chose the same career field, Hospital Corpsman as her Dad...who administered her oath of enlistment...WOW! History repeating itself). The latest: my daughter just got married to another Navy Hospital Corpsman...so I have yet another GI who's joined our family, proudly serving their country.

Time to renew old acquaintances and meet new ones!
This time's a great opportunity to develop new, honest and sincere relationships with no strings attached. I'm NOT looking for romance. We sometimes tend to confuse romance and simply reaching out when we engage in superb and meaningful interpersonal relationships.

I avoid emotional leaches (we all do carry some baggage from our past experiences) and those troubled souls whose past experiences have left indelible scars that preclude them from simply leading healthy, happy and productive lives. I have little tolerance for others imposing their unhappiness (consciously or, worse yet, subconsciously) on one's space. The people I've chosen to call FRIEND are POSITIVE!

Spirituality has gripped my interest. I don't discuss politics or religion. I'm always curious and am somewhat of a risk taker (Riding my scooters and sportscar are one method of therapy when I need to cool my neurons). Fiscally conservative and secure....philosophically moderate in my views about personal matters: You live your thing and I live mine...I avoid judgmental folks who try to impose their way of seeing the world on others. Over the years, I've discovered a gift for counseling and coaching... it's also great self therapy...thus my next life is as a coach & consultant...a great way to sniff the fresh air around me!
